The boys wanted to do some baking this...

The boys wanted to do some baking this afternoon. Hating to disappoint them I began searching through the cupboards. Unfortunately for them it is the afternoon before shopping day, and I had no eggs or flour to make cakes or biscuits.

I tried to explain that we could do baking tomorrow, after the shopping man has been; ( yes, I'm a lazy mum, and I like to have my shopping delivered to my house 🙂 ) but they we're having none of it. So I began to search the cupboards again, and this is what I found:

  • rusk biscuits (yes them horrible baby biscuits, but trust me it works 🙂 )
  • plain chocolate
  • dried fruit, for example, raisins or cranberries.
  • golden syrup.

I'm sorry, just have got to mention this. Checking my gmail as I write this and I saw an advertisement for this website, http://www.jagvirklawyers.com. It is the 4th ad I've seen from their site today! I do believe I'm being stalked! Alright, I am going to resume what I was writing 😉

1. First the boys broke up the plain chocolate and put them into the saucepan.

2. They then squirted in some golden syrup to help it all stick together.

3. On a very low heat, I started to melt the chocolate and golden syrup in the saucepan. As it began to melt it started to become sticky, so I added a small amount of milk, and whisked it up, so it was all nice and smooth.

4. Whilst I was melting the chocolate, the boys started putting rusk biscuits into a large bowl. They took it in turns to demolish the biscuits with the end of the rolling pin. ( I think they enjoyed this bit the most!)

5. They then added some dried fruit to the bowl of very crumbled rusks.

6. I then added the melted chocolate, and they stirred it, until it was all mixed together.

7. They then emptied it all into a thin round cake tin, and squashed it all down until it was really flat.

8. Much to the boys disappointment, I then put their creation into the fridge to set for half an hour.

The boys wanted to call it " chocolate crumbly crackers "

Many thanks needs to go to medical foot solutions who in fact provided me with the seed idea for this post in an message they sent me. They appear to be a fabulous foot pain clinic in the event that anybody's curious.
